Coming January 6, 2020 on online database will give employers, FMCSA, State Driver Licensing Agencies and State law enforcement personnel real-time information about CDL driver drug and alcohol program violations, thereby enhancing safety on our Nation’s roadways. The Clearinghouse contains information about drivers with commercial driver’s licenses who are covered by FMCSA’s drug and alcohol program. This also includes drivers with commercial learner’s permits.

Employers will be required to conduct electronic inquiries with previous employers for new hires and must conduct an annual inquiry on all current CDL employees. Drivers may view their own records for information recorded after the January 6, 2020 date as well. In order for an employer to conduct an inquiry, a driver must provide consent to access the information. A driver will need to register online for the Clearinghouse in order to do so. Clearinghouse registration is scheduled to open in the fall of 2019. Once we are notified that registration is open, we will make you aware of the process for registering.

I have provided a link below so you can review the new Clearinghouse requirement and related information.
